the renowned Mangoin savioropened a new space attached to the restaurant: the Window. The chefs’ new venture Dante and Katrin Bassi born from the desire to create a greater connection with the street and the atmosphere of Rio Vermelho, one of the most bohemian neighborhoods in the city and where the house is located.
“We reactivated our bar, which is on the ground floor, integrating the street through the opening of the large window. The idea is for people to eat right there, on the sidewalk, enjoying it from late afternoon until late at night,” says Dante.
The menu, exclusive to the new space, offers snacks, drinks and desserts with fresh products and Manga’s well-known creative identity. The intention is to have greater freedom to offer new combinations of flavors and preparations, but in a more casual format.
Among the creations by the duo for Janela are ceviche with coconut (R$29), raw oysters (R$29 – three units), rib croquette (R$30) and lechon kawai (R$33), a of the chefs of a traditional Filipino recipe, where the pork belly is boiled in brine, smoked and fried.
House classics such as charcuterie, artisan bread basket (R$34) and oreo (R$19), smoked gold, creme fraîche, dill and caramelized onion biscuits are also on the menu.
The drinks menu, the same available in the lounges of Manga, offers beers and cocktails signed by one of the most renowned bartenders in the country, Jean Ponce. Authored drinks complete the experience with Victoire (Gin Tanajura, Saint-Germain, Lillet, Victória and Hortelã grapes – R$ 32), among others.
All items from Sleeve Window will be served in disposable and biodegradable packaging. “For drinks we offer a reusable cup, sold at cost price, which can be exchanged for each drink ordered, and, at the end, taken home. Our idea is to produce as little waste as possible”, explains Katrin.
