FTS of Russia: “we are closely engaged in cryptocurrencies”

The head of the Federal Tax Service of Russia, Daniil Egorov, said that the department is working out measures to combat various methods of tax evasion, including with the help of cryptocurrencies.

In an interview with RBC, Yegorov noted that recently he had not noticed any particularly elegant and interesting tax evasion schemes. However, such scammers increasingly rely on new technologies, anonymization, and try to hide their tracks on the Internet. Also, cryptocurrencies are becoming more and more popular.

“If we talk about cryptocurrencies, then we are now quite closely involved in this market, realizing that this settlement system can create quite significant erosion for the tax base,” Egorov said.

From a technological point of view, the Federal Tax Service has everything ready to process data on cryptocurrency transactions. But it is necessary to “declare the points of calculation and the volume of calculation both by the key stakeholders of any such systems, and by the users.” Egorov emphasized that it is necessary to develop a systematic approach, and not to respond to violations with the use of digital assets.

Recall that in early November, Bits.Media published a large-scale article on taxation of digital assets in Russia.
