Fuel Pass decisions ‘locked’ – Announcements announced on Tuesday

Tomorrow comes the government announcements tomorrow in support of the citizens against the rally of fuel prices.

From what has become known so far about the thoughts of the government, the new package of measures:

1. It will last for three months and will be valid from the 1st of July and will end on the 30th of September.

2. For diesel the subsidy will continue to be given to the pump and will probably be higher than it is today.

3. The fuel pass system will continue for gasoline. The amount of the subsidy will be higher than before.

4. The fuel pass measure will concern more people. Information states that it will be for those who have a family income of up to 45,000 euros (net after tax).

Characteristic is the statement made recently by the Minister of Finance, Christos Staikouras, referring to the fuel pass, saying that “more money is being considered and the income criteria are being expanded”.

The road to a bolder package was paved after the release of budget execution data last Wednesday, which showed a significant exceedance of the tax revenue target for both the 5 months (January-May) of 2002 and the last month.

In this context, the information states that the intervention that will be announced will substantially reduce the cost of gasoline for consumers to about 2 euros per liter from the current 2.4 which is currently around. will reach 250 million euros.
