FuelCell Energy said revenue growth in the second quarter was not able to offset higher operating expenses and marginal pressures that widened the quarter.
The high-temperature fuel cell maker posted a net loss of $ 30 million for the quarter to April 30, compared with a loss of $ 18.9 million a year ago.
In terms of earnings per share, net losses stood at 8 cents, compared to 6 cents a year ago. Analysts expected losses of 5 cents per share.
Revenue rose 17% to $ 16.4 million, mainly due to a 300% increase in revenue from service agreements along with revenue from higher output.
Revenue from contracts from the advanced technology department was reduced by one third.
