Fugitive for extortion in SP is arrested driving a school van in RJ

A man on the run from São Paulo justice system for extortion was arrested in Tijuca, north of Rio de Janeiro, this Thursday afternoon (22). Éricles Santana de Almeida, aka “Geléia”, aged 39, worked with school transport in neighborhoods in the north of the capital of Rio de Janeiro, such as Tijuca, Rio Comprido, Estácio and surrounding areas.

The Military Police reached the suspect after receiving news from Hotline about the fugitive's whereabouts, as well as the address where he was located. Before the arrest, the Intelligence Sub-Secretariat of the Rio de Janeiro PM exchanged information with the Integrated Public Security Intelligence Center of the State of São Paulo.

There was an arrest warrant issued against Éricles by the 1st Criminal Court of São Bernardo do Campo, in the metropolitan region of São Paulo, for the crime of extortion. He, who had been sentenced to five years in prison, did not resist police action.

The suspect was sent to a prison unit of the Rio Penitentiary Administration Secretariat and will be available to the São Paulo Court.
