The Academy of Sciences has announced the nominees for the 2021 Academy Awards. For the list of applicants, see the material below.
The following films are nominated for the win in the Best Film category:
- The Father (2020), Chloe Zhao;
- Judas And The Black Messiah (2021), Shaka King;
- The Trial Of The Chicago 7, 2020, Aaron Sorkin;
- Mank (2020), David Fincher;
- Promising Young Woman (2020), Emerald Fennell;
- Sound of Metal (2019), Darius Marder;
- Minari (2020), Lee Isaac Chung;
- Nomadland (2020) by Chloé Zhao.
It is worth noting that the list of nominees for the movie “Munk” tops the list. Critics have noted the excellent technical side of the film, which means that the film has a great chance of winning.
Five contenders compete in the Best Director nomination: Thomas Vinterberg with his film “Another One” (Druk, 2020), Chloe Zhao, Emirald Fennell, David Fincher and Lee Isaac Chun.
Anthony Hopkins, Chadwick Boseman, Riz Ahmed, Gary Oldman and Steven Yeun are nominating for Best Actor. Oscars for Best Actress may go to Viola Davis, Carey Hannah Mulligan, Andra Day, Vanessa Kirby and Frances Louise McDormand.
Sacha Noam Baron, Leslie Odom, Daniel Kaluuya, LaKeith Stanfield and Paul Raci will be competing for Best Supporting Actor. The main nominees for Best Supporting Actress are: Olivia Colman, Glenn Close, Maria Balakova, Amanda Seyfried and Yoon Yeo-jeong.
The nomination for Best Animated Film includes Onward, Soul, Over the Moon, Wolfwalkers, Sheep Movie : Farmageddon).
Oscars for Best Original Song may be awarded to such compositions as “Fight for You” from the movie “Judas and the Black Messiah”, “Hear My Voice” – “Trial of the Chicago Seven”, “Húsavíkt” – “Eurovision Song Contest”, “Io Si (Seen) – “Life Ahead”, “Speak Now” – “One Night in Miami.” The following films compete for the title of the best musical accompaniment: Da 5 Bloods, Munk, Minari, News of the World, Soul.
