Full speed coverage of 5G will be gradual, says Anatel advisor

The “pure” 5G signal was activated in the city of São Paulo this Thursday (4), however, not all neighborhoods in the capital of São Paulo had the full connection.

So far, the greatest connectivity has been in the Historic Center, in the Avenida Paulista region and in Itaim Bibi.

In an interview with CNN Moisés Moreira, advisor to Anatel, stated that the full-speed coverage of 5G will be gradual.

The experts also said that depending on the region where the user is, he may or may not have connectivity. “I don’t know if all the antennas [das 462] were linked”.

So far, 462 antennas have been installed, that is, 1 for every 100,000 inhabitants. But Anatel already has requests for registration of more than 1400 antennas for São Paulo.

The distribution of 5G also depends on operators and not all neighborhoods will have access to the technology. So, even if a person has the device, they may not be able to connect to the track.

According to Anatel, “each provider has its own network deployment and expansion strategy. Therefore, it is natural that, at this initial moment, not all operators serve all neighborhoods and regions”.

Another point that Brazilians should have on their radar, according to Moreira, is that some cell phones will only be able to connect to 5G when the device’s software is updated. And there may also be a need to change the cell phone chip.
