Funding of 3 million euros in municipalities and regions for the restoration of damages from natural disasters

Sixteen municipalities, two regions and one DEYA are funded with a total amount of 3 million euros. to repair damage caused by natural disasters and extreme weather events.

The projects concern urgent works for the restoration of damages from floods and fires caused during the period August 2021 – January 2022, the implementation of works for prevention of natural disasters, as well as for the restoration of infrastructures and irrigation and water supply networks.

Decisions of the Deputy Minister of Interior, Stelios Petsas, provide, inter alia:

Four hundred thousand (400,000) euros to the region of Central Greece for the restoration of damage in affected areas after the recent bad weather, including the P.E. Of Evia. Separate funding is provided for the municipalities of Karystos and Istiaia-Edipsos, in the amount of 150,000 euros and 50,000 euros, respectively, to deal with the consequences caused by severe weather and floods in October 2021 and January 2022.

400,000 euros to the Ionian Islands region for the completion of the restoration project of the Mesongi river in Corfu, after the flood of October 14, 2021. In addition, the three municipalities of Corfu are subsidized, separately, with the total amount of 500,000 euros (300,000 euros for the municipality of South Corfu, 100,000 euros for the municipality of North Corfu, 100,000 euros for the municipality of Central Corfu & Diapontia Islands).

Provision is also made, inter alia:

200,000 euros to the municipality of Aktio-Vonitsa for rehabilitation projects due to recent natural disasters.

150,000 euros to the municipality of Kissamos for projects to restore water supply networks due to severe weather conditions that hit the area in January.

150,000 euros for restoration projects in P.E. Zakynthos due to the floods that hit the island in January.

Additional funding of 80,000 euros to DEYA Ancient Olympia for infrastructure restoration projects and dealing with the consequences caused by last August’s fire.
