Furious in Turkey with Pompeo’s revelations – “They upset the balance in relations with Greece”

Reactions have been caused in Turkey by what the former US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, reveals in his book, and especially what he writes about an incident during which he almost broke down the door of Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s office.

“There was the meeting of our president with Pence tete-a-tete before the meeting of the delegations of the two countries. And while me and Pompeo together with other colleagues were waiting in another office we saw that Pompeo was disturbed because the meeting was longer and there were requests from him like “let’s go inside now”. And I told him “one is the president and the other is the vice president. When they need us, they will call us.” And I told him from the point of view of politeness as well as protocol it would not be right to go inside and I warned him.

Now we understand why he was bothered. Those “wretched images” as he calls them, we experienced them here. The terrorist organization murdered 251 of our citizens. I’m talking about FETO.

After all, he (Pompeo) wrote a message on twitter which he later deleted. And from what he writes against our president, we understand that he himself has supported the coup attempt. This is also why he was disturbed by the video. Because in it he shows how the coup started and how the Turkish people prevented the coup. He himself was so annoyed that the Turkish people defeated the coup plotters, that’s why he uses this style and talks like this“, said the Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlut Cavusogluaccording to SKAI’s correspondent in Istanbul, Manolis Kostidis.

At another point in his interview, Cavusoglu accuses Pompeo of having upset the balance that existed between Turkey, Greece and Cyprus. “They were the ones who upset the balance in the relations with Greece and Cyprus. And since he will be a candidate in the next elections, he wants the support of the Greek lobby and that is why he is writing this.

He himself told me that he wants to visit Constantinople, that he will visit the Patriarchate and that he would like to meet me there. And my answer was clear. We are not bothered by the visit to the Patriarchate, but “anyone who wants to meet me can come to Ankara and see me and I will not go to Constantinople”.

In what is mentioned there is untrue information, exaggerations and it shows that they were so dishonest and two-faced. With this person we were forced to work with him to develop relationships. We have seen how disingenuous and two-faced he is.

Kalin’s reaction

There was also a reaction from the representative of the Turkish presidency, Ibrahim Kalin, who said: “As long as the meeting lasted and did not end, Pompeo was having a nervous breakdown outside. We found out later. It’s a strange thing, your vice-president is in a meeting and you’re lobbying from the outside and saying “I’ll go in” yourself. Here there was no request from his vice president, he tried to enter and put pressure on the door. We found out later.

In the book he states that he is proud of the development of relations with Greece and that since the time of Kissinger no one has supported Greece so much. So the US is not neutral among NATO allies. We knew that the USA stands by Greece and supports it, but he confessed this and we record it.

Worst of all, he showed that while he talks about peace in the Aegean, he causes tension between the two allies when he clearly supports only Greece. And today the Biden administration is not very different in its attitude. On some issues, the US government, the deep state, the policy that Obama started and Trump continued, now the Biden administration is doing. Then people ask us ‘what is the reason for the tension between Turkey and USA?’ Pompeo’s confession shows that the issue is not us but the USA”.
