«Futura»: the exclusive clip of the new film with Matilde Gioli and Niels Schneider

Although music has always been a part of him, Louis has decided to give up on the first difficulty, not considering himself capable enough to make his way in a world where competition is the order of the day. He tries to make some money by working as a night taxi driver and smuggling cocaine with Lucya, a Chilean transsexual he perceives as his only friend, but it won’t be long before he realizes this life isn’t for him. Future, the new film directed by Lamberto Sanfelice, produced by Indiana Productions, MeMo Films, Lalavì Film with Rai Cinema and Rosebud Entertainment Pictures and in cinemas from June 17, is the training journey of a man who moves further and further away from his family to seek redemption, an opportunity that can reconcile him with what he feels he has lost.

“The idea for the film comes from an encounter,” explained Sanfelice, former director of Chlorine, nominated for the David di Donatello in 2015. «One day, walking down the street, I heard a trumpet playing jazz to discover that the sound of the instrument was coming from a taxi driver sitting in the driver’s seat in his vehicle stopped at the taxi stop. From this image some questions arose: why had this man stopped playing music? What would have happened if the taxi driver wanted to go back to pursuing his passion for jazz? ». The character of Louis, the talented and haunted jazzman extraordinarily portrayed by Niels Schneider, the fetish actor of Xavier Dolan starts from this doubt, from this desire to embrace a dream that he has always thought he could not afford.

With him Matilde Gioli in the role of his wife Valentina e Daniela vega, the acclaimed star of A fantastic woman by Sebastián Lelio, in that of Lucya, the trans with whom the musician peddles the night, constitute a puzzle that will lead the viewer to immerse themselves in an ocean of sensations, trumpets and colors where the desire to emerge will end up swallowing everything . Future, in this sense, it is a complex work that investigates relationships and dreams of glory, the risks of nightlife wrapped in techno music and the aspirations that, often and willingly, generate frustration and dismay. It is a film full of meanings that follows the emotional path of the protagonist as if it were a tuning fork that vibrates at the first impact. The presence, then, of two champions of Italian and international jazz such as Stefano Di Battista and Enrico Rava, also authors of the original music of the film together with Lorenzo Cosi and Giovanni Damiani, confers to Future a personality that goes beyond the plot and settles in the waves that the music manages to generate, like a pebble thrown into the water.
