“According to the data of the Association of Car Dealers Importers, from January 2013 to October 2021, that is, in eight years, a total of 8,717 new electric vehicles were registered in our country. In the years 2020 and 2021, 7,510 cars were registered. What does this mean? “That in these two years we have 7,500 cars out of a total of 8,717, that is, 1,207 electric cars, all of which were classified from 2013 to 2020”, said the Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy.

Mr. Amyras also said that today there are about 1,100 public charging points in Greece, 400 of which belong to PPC, exceeding the European target for one charger per 10 electric vehicles. At the same time, 308 municipalities have submitted proposals to build charging points which will be financed by the Green Fund and the Recovery Fund. Thus, within the year we will have 10,291 new charging points for electric vehicles in the country and we do not stop there. in the coming year and in the coming months they will have built almost eleven thousand charging points. Ms. Pipili referred to a study by the Association of European Automobile Manufacturers, according to which Greece is only in the penultimate position of European countries in terms of the number of chargers per 100 kilometers, which makes it very difficult to extend electrification throughout the territory. He therefore called on the present Deputy Minister to inform what moves and incentives the Ministry of Environment will promote to speed up the installation of chargers for electric cars. He also called on the ministry to raise the issue with the European Commission so that European carmakers can provide common technology for all types of electric cars and avoid charging malfunctions.
