G. Chatzitheodosiou: 50% reduction in the turnover of the restaurant after the measures

The president of the Central Union of Chambers of Greece and the Athens Chamber of Commerce, Giannis Chatzitheodosiou, spoke to ERT1 today about the problems faced by the catering industry due to the restrictive measures to deal with the coronavirus pandemic, in combination with the wave of price increases.

Mr. Hatzitheodosiou spoke in favor of any measure to protect public health, but at the same time stressed the need to support companies affected by restrictions to control the pandemic. As the president noted, after the implementation of the restrictive measures, there is a 50% reduction in the turnover of the companies in the catering sector, speaking, essentially as he said “for an informal lockdown”.

In order for businesses to stay open and maintain jobs, the chamber community has proposed a series of measures including suspending liabilities, covering 75% of energy increases by the state, and reducing VAT. in basic necessities from 13% to 6% and the non-return of Refundable Advances, explained the president of K.E.E.E. and the EEC, while emphasizing the need to increase the debt repayment installments of the pandemic, from 72 to 120, in order to give “breath” of survival to companies.
