G. Chatzitheodosiou at the CCCI: Need to further strengthen Greek-Cypriot business relations

The need for further strengthening of business relations between Greece and Cyprus and the wider cooperation of the business communities of the two countries, stressed the President of KEEE and EEC, Giannis Hatzitheodosiou, in his speech at the General Assembly of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) ) in Nicosia, on Wednesday 1/12, in the presence of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Anastasiadis, Ministers, the Administration of the CCCI and its members.

Mr. Chatzitheodosiou, who as the keynote speaker had the honor to be the first to speak at the event, initially conveyed the greetings and support of the Greek business community in Cyprus. “Greece and Cyprus have a common history, a common language, culture and values. So, friendship and solidarity are a given. Sympathy and cooperation at all levels are a given”, stressed the President of KEEE in his speech , while referring to the challenges of the time, underlined the recovery and restart of the two economies, after the unprecedented in duration and intensity of the health crisis, the adaptation to the requirements and opportunities created by the digital and technological revolution, the dangers of climate change and the defense of the national interests of Greece and Cyprus, against the continuing Turkish aggression and intransigence.

“It is important that the two countries, at the political level, remain fully coordinated in order to respond to Turkey’s provocation, in an organized manner and compatible with international law. I would like to assure you, respectively, that the Greek business community was and remains always on the side of Cyprus “, added Mr. Hatzitheodosiou.

The immediate goal of the two business communities, after the official contacts that the President of KEEE had in Cyprus, is the creation of a Greek-Cypriot Chamber, the holding of business forums in Athens and Nicosia in the near future and the cooperation between Greek and Cypriot companies for the further access of the Greeks to the market of the Middle East and the Cypriots to that of the Balkans.

During the General Assembly, a delegation of KEEE consisting of President Giannis Chatzitheodosiou, BJ Vice President Pavlos Ravanis and G.G. Panagiotis Agniadis, awarded honorary plaques to the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Anastasiadis and the President of the CCCI, Christodoulos Agastiniotis, while on the sidelines of the event he honored Natasa Pileidou, Minister of Energy, Trade and Industry of Cyprus.

In their speeches, Nikos Anastasiadis and Christodoulos Agastiniotis referred -among other things- to the presence of KEEE in Cyprus, emphasizing the importance of synergies between the two business communities, with the President of the Republic of Cyprus focusing more on national issues and the President of KEVE on prospects of the Cypriot economy and the initiatives to be taken for its development.

The event began with a minute of silence in memory of the late President of KEEE Konstantinos Michalos.
