G. Economou: On Monday we will proceed with the order of private doctors

“We have 1,277 intensive care beds out of 557 we had in 2019. In many cases there are waiting times in hospitals that have ICUs until it is decided whether the patient is allowed to be transferred to other available ICUs. “there is infrastructure, either in surgical beds, until it is decided whether it is allowed to go to a hospital where there is an ICU available, or to empty one in the same”, stressed the government spokesman Giannis Oikonomou in an interview with the TV station “Alpha”

He clarified that in emergencies no one is intubated, he is in the MAF and in the surgical beds. “There is no person who has to be intubated and not intubated in a bed that meets the conditions if ICU is not available,” he said, adding that “in the NSS hospitals there is a battle every day.”

“A huge effort is being made to utilize the available bed, we have done things in this direction, we have at our disposal all the ICUs and the private sector for non covid cases, we are constantly adding beds to hospitals for treatment, covid treatment and others hospitalizations, “he said.

The government spokesman also announced that on Monday, if the needs recorded in the NSS by doctors in the private sector have not been met over the weekend, they will proceed with the order of private doctors. “There is a need for pulmonologists, physicians, general practitioners. Whatever is needed to strengthen the NSS, we will do it without calculating any costs, because that is where the great battle takes place and our effort has as a priority to reduce as much as possible “more human losses,” he said.
