G. Oikonomou characterized the occupation of the Greek-owned tankers by Iranian forces as a “completely unprovoked and illegal action” and for that, as he said, “from the first moment we took all the necessary measures”.
He pointed out that the Greek government has informed our partners and allies in all international fora, as well as all ships sailing in the surrounding area so that, as he said, they can adapt to this unacceptable situation created by the Iranian government’s tactics.
“Any actions taken in relation to Iranian oil are actions taken on the basis of the country’s international conventions and obligations and following decisions of the judiciary. Decisions against which the authorities whose interests are affected by this decision have not been appealed. Based on the international conventions and obligations that the country has signed in the last 3 decades and the decision of the independent judiciary, this action was taken on the ship that “he had Iranian oil,” he said in response to a question.
