G. Karagiannis: ‘The Prime Minister will inspect the construction sites in Patras – Pyrgos’

The first construction sites of Patras-Pyrgos in Pyrgos and Achaia that have started working, will be visited by the Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Costas Karamanlis – probably the day after Thursday – as stated today the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport George the Ministry is examining the support of the technical world from the effects of price increases on fuel and materials within the budgetary possibilities of the country.

Regarding the solution given in order to finally implement the Patras-Pyrgos project, Mr. Karagiannis stressed that: “We prefer to make difficult decisions but responsible ones that lead to the implementation of the projects. We are not going to inaugurate fake projects, nor tarpaulins. to have bulldozers that will disappear the next day “and added that” the decision taken with political courage and discretion is justified “.

Speaking to the radio station “Parapolitika”, he stated that, within 2024, the first 56km will be delivered. from the Tower, while the whole project will be completed in 40 months.

He reminded that, for the first time in Greek history, there will be intervention in the existing network in order to upgrade road safety.

The Undersecretary of Infrastructure made extensive reference to the issue that has arisen in construction since the global energy crisis and the rise in prices for petroleum products.

He assured that “in the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport with Costas Karamanlis we do not sit idly by. We have already had a meeting with representatives of the contractors, the technical meetings continue and in the near future we will provide a solution based on the country’s budget”.

As he said, in the meetings that take place, all the contractors are represented without exceptions, while the ultimate goal of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport is to cure pathogenesis of years and to streamline the system.

He underlined that “already what we have foreseen is the creation of a price observatory and the establishment of a Company for Specifications and Pricing of Technical Works and Studies in order for the adjustments to be done automatically and the process of issuing the relevant JMC is in progress”.

In fact, he pointed out that “for the first time the State gives equal participation in the private sector by 50%, thus directly taking into account the messages of the market”.

Line 4: “It will change the daily life of the Athenians and the image of the city”

The Undersecretary of Infrastructure then referred to the metro projects, which, as he stressed, “we believe very much as they upgrade the lives of the citizens”.

Regarding Line 4 of the Athens Metro, Mr. Karagiannis noted that a double project is underway. The main project concerning the construction of the new line as well as a wide intervention that will reduce the environmental footprint, will “green” entire areas and will turn each new station into a green lung.

“We will make urban renovations in an area of ​​85,000 sq.m., this is a very serious intervention”, stressed Mr. Karagiannis.

Asked about the projects that have been launched in West Attica, Mr. Karagiannis commented that “the supposedly sensitive government of the” first time Left “had left West Attica. The government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis found a serious development deficit.”

He underlined that in the summer the Metro will reach the largest Port of the country as the stations of the extension of Line 3, Maniatika, Piraeus, Municipal Theater will be put into operation.

Among the ongoing projects is the expansion of Line 2 to Ilion with three new stations, Palatiani, Ilion and Ag. Nikolaos and the suburb of West Attica to Megara, which will bring the center of Athens closer.
