The Minister of Shipping and Island Policy, Mr. Giannis Plakiotakis, participated in the conference of the International Maritime Chamber (ICS) in London, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of its establishment.
The purpose of the conference was to discuss the conditions that will ensure a smooth course for zero, clean emissions, in the middle of the century.
“The industry that transports 90% of the world trade, is committed to carbonization”, stressed Mr. Plakiotakis, adding: “Greek Shipping, which is the backbone of the global shipping industry, looks forward to the constructive cooperation of all agencies, (Shipping “, producers of fuels and engines, shipyards, etc.), to achieve the goal. The carbonization of Shipping is also an opportunity to improve its public image”, he underlined.
“Greece”, concluded Mr. Plakiotakis, “will contribute decisively to the adoption of sustainable coal emission policies for the benefit of the environment and for a sustainable future of Shipping, which plays a strategic role for our nation, the EU and the whole people”.
