US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken addressed his Russian counterpart during closed-door Group of Twenty (G20) talks in Bali and demanded that Moscow allow grain exports from Ukraine, a Western official said.
“To our Russian colleagues: Ukraine is not your country. Its grain is not your grain. Why are you blocking the ports? You should let the grain out,” Blinken told Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, the which he refused to meet separately, according to a Western official who was present.
Blinken spoke before the Russian delegation on US economic aid to address global food shortages caused by the war in Ukraine, a country that is one of the world’s major grain exporters.
“Russia is the source of the problem, the United States is focused on the solutions,” Blinken said, according to the Western official.
