At the opening of the meeting, Prime Minister Mario Draghi he in turn underlined the importance of acting concretely. “Either we act now and face the costs of the transition and manage to make it more sustainable or we postpone it and risk paying a higher price after it fails.”

The heir to the throne of England has always shown a fundamental interest in respecting the environment, alternative energies, climate change. “I have listened closely to the leaders of many countries, in particular the nations of the Commonwealth, whose communities they are among the most vulnerable to the climate on Earth, e I found it impossible not to listen to the desperate voices of young people who care about the world that they will inherit from the current generation of administrators of their planet “.

In his message Charles of England emphasizes the importance of listening to the private sector, real key for the transition to sustainability to take shape quickly. “Almost two years ago, I founded my sustainable markets initiative, which is now joined by some 300 of the world’s best CEOs from every sector of the economy. I found out how extremely sensitive they are to the way their clients and investors are now demanding changes in the way companies behave. Their clients are a powerful lobby ».

And he adds: “To give just one example, today the main exponents of the fashion industry will join me at the G20. will launch a new digital identity card for clothes, to let people know how products are designed, manufactured and distributed. It is an example of the commitment that companies want to show; the type of investment that only they can provide. They believe, like me, that their customers have the right to know that what they buy has been created in a sustainable way and that on this basis they will make future choices “.
