G7 considers adopting sanctions against Iran, says British Prime Minister

The G7, a group that brings together the most industrialized countries in the world, is working on a package of coordinated measures against Iran after the attack aimed at Israel last weekend. The information came from British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, this Monday (15).

“We are working urgently with our allies to see what steps we can take together, in a coordinated way, to deter and condemn what Iran is doing,” Sunak said in parliament, citing discussions between G7 leaders over the weekend.

“I spoke to my fellow G7 leaders. We are united in our condemnation of this attack.”

On Saturday, Iran launched drones and fired missiles at Israel in retaliation for an attack on its embassy in Damascus, Syria, raising the risk of further escalation and a broader regional conflict.

Previously, Italy, which holds the rotating presidency of the G7, said it was open to new sanctions on individuals engaged against Israel.
