The top seven industrialized nations (G7) see climate change as a major threat to global security. To address this, G7 foreign ministers have adopted a seven-point action plan to raise the issue at “the highest levels of government”, according to Handelsblatt.
Today, the seven foreign ministers continued their consultations at the Weißenhaus in Schleswig-Holstein. Federal Foreign Secretary Annalena Baerbock planned to present the results of the three-day conference on the Baltic Sea coast in a final press conference at noon.
The G7 consists of Germany, the USA, Canada, Great Britain, France, Italy and Japan. Germany holds the presidency of the G7 this year. The main topic of the meeting was the Russian offensive war against Ukraine.
On Friday, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba also took part in the consultations. Kuleba reiterated his call to the G7 that Ukraine still needs, above all, heavy weapons to resist the Russian attack. First of all, the G7 reaffirmed their solidarity and support for Ukraine.
