Gabriel Leone, from “Ferrari”, reveals how he got his first role in Hollywood

Leone revealed that he was already looking for an international opportunity, that he had been practicing his English and was in contact with a businesswoman in the United States. However, the opportunity arose through a Brazilian colleague, the producer Rodrigo Teixeira who worked on titles such as “Armageddon Time” It is “Ad Astra” .

“Rodrigo is a partner I have worked with a few times. He was at Cannes in 2022 and he ran into Anne Hathaway's agent, who had a history of working with Latino actors, and he gave this guy my name and showed a photo of me. This guy knew Michael [Mann] and remembered that he was looking for someone more or less with my profile”, he said.

“He sent my photo and name to Michael [Mann] and he requested a tape from me. I auditioned for two scenes, which I even did in the film. I was the last to be cast. I did the scenes and two days later I got approval. A week later, I had a video call with Michael [Mann] and he was already in Italy. A month later, I was already in Italy. It all happened very quickly”, he continued.

Leone highlighted that “things were aligned” for his path and that of the director to cross, but he also highlighted that the role is the result of his work and the career he has been building over the years.

“I understood that he was a very important character. Michael [Mann] I had been auditioning actors from all over the world for a long time and wasn't finding anything. He gave me a lot of confidence, turning around and saying: 'You're the guy to play this character,'” he said.

In the film, the Brazilian actor plays the Spanish driver Alfonso De Portago, Scuederia Ferrari's new bet. The plot follows Enzo Ferrari who faces problems in the company, which is on the verge of bankruptcy. He decides to go all in on the long-distance car race in Italy, the Mille Miglia, while dealing with problems in his marriage, Laura.
