05 It was 1991 when Gaggia revolutionized the coffee ritual with Classic, the machine for domestic use loved by the whole world, as well as a symbol ofauthentic Italian espresso with natural cream. A real must have – especially for coffees lover – that still today, after 30 years, continues to maintain those values of history, tradition, reliability typical of the Milanese brand.
To celebrate this important anniversary, Gaggia decided to enlist the artist and designer Pierpaolo Gaballo to create a special limited edition of suns 3,000 pieces, entirely produced in Italy, whose design explores the theme ofacrobat. «I chose this character because, reflecting on his peculiarities, I saw a natural parallelism with the Home Barista; both find the reasons for their success in dexterity, practice and balance. One on stage, in front of the audience, and the other in the privacy of one’s home. I imagined a poetic character who, with my stylistic sign, expressed beauty and inspiration »says the artist.
The idea immediately conquered the company, as he explains Monica Milanovich, brand and communication manager: «The acrobat seemed to us to be really perfect to tell the passion that animates those who own a Classic: those who choose it dedicate themselves every day to the preparation of their espresso, in a game of balances between blends, grinding settings, crushing».
The theme chosen by Pierpaolo Gaballo and his artistic style allowed not only to dress the car body in a harmonious and surprising way, but also to create a colorful illustration on paper, original tribute to those who will buy Gaggia Classic 30 and that they will find included in the pack. The image of the acrobat is thus doubled to express the two souls of the machine: on the one hand, the purest essence of Classic, simple, clean and minimal; on the other, the artistic vein of the acrobat, with a wonderful and exciting illustration, which also features two elements of the brand’s tradition: the cathedral of Milan, a tribute to the city where the brand was born, which is a constant source of inspiration , and the cup, the symbol of Italian espresso.
