Gal Gadot, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Douglas, among 700 other celebrities, express support for Israel in an open letter

More than 700 entertainment industry professionals have signed an open letter expressing support for Israel and condemning Hamas as fighting continues in the Middle East.

Stars such as Gal Gadot, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Douglas, Amy Schumer, Mayim Bialik and Jerry Seinfeld were among those who signed the letter released this Thursday (12) by the entertainment industry non-profit organization Creative Community For Peace.

Chris Pine, Liev Schreiber, Debra Messing and Mark Hamill were also among the signatories.

The letter calls on entertainment industry leaders to “strongly speak out against Hamas and do everything in their power to urge the terrorist organization to return innocent hostages to their families.”

“This is terrorism. This is bad. There is no justification or rationalization for Hamas’ actions,” the letter continues.

Tragedy in the Middle East

Israel reported that at least 1,200 people were killed and thousands injured in Hamas attacks over the weekend. Hamas also holds around 150 people hostage in Gaza, according to Israeli authorities.

At least 1,537 people — including 500 children and 267 women — have been killed since Israel began attacks in Gaza following Saturday’s deadly Hamas attack, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry. Another 6,612 people were injured, the ministry added.

The letter also included a warning urging public figures in the entertainment industry to “refrain from sharing misinformation about the war” and to avoid amplifying any “propaganda.”

“Our thoughts are with all those who experience unfathomable levels of fear and violence, and we look forward to the day when Israelis and Palestinians can live side by side in peace,” the letter concluded.
