Samsung Electronics continues to explore new directions for the popular low-cost line of smartphones Samsung Galaxy A.

The company has received a patent for a new design of smartphones with a rotating camera. This is a further development of the idea of the Galaxy A80 (review), which debuted in mid-2019. The rotating camera of the Galaxy A80 allows you to take both selfies and regular photos from video.

According to the thematic resource LetsGoDigital, the Korean manufacturer is going to introduce the successor to the Galaxy A80 in 2021 – the Galaxy A82 5G, and the patent shows what kind of camera can be expected in the new product.

The patent shows a camera with a rotating mechanism that differs in principle from the Galaxy A80. The camera is stretched vertically, there are three modules for shooting in the block. The camera combines a retractable mechanism with a rotating one.

Pulling up, the module provides selfies and video recording for conferences. You can also flip the camera so that all three modules are directed backward for taking familiar photos. The movement of the module is fully automatic.

Color renders for greater clarity were made by designer Jermaine Smit known from the Concept Creator video channel specifically for LetsGoDigital, based on drawings from the patent.
