This past Saturday afternoon (27), during “Operation Carnival”, the Civil Police arrested a gang of fake street vendors who carried out financial scams in carnival blocks, in the west zone of São Paulo.
The group committed fraud by exchanging cards used by victims when paying for goods. Five men, between 25 and 28 years old, were arrested while selling drinks at a carnival group, which took place on Rua Lavradio, in the Barra Funda region.
According to the Civil Police, 146 debit and credit cards, five machines, R$1,602 in cash, eight cell phones and two bags were seized. All objects were sent for forensic examination.
According to the São Paulo Public Security Secretariat (SSP), the case was officially registered as a criminal association by the 1st Deatur of the Department of Strategic Police Operations (Dope).
