Garmin unveils Vivosmart 5 bracelet: OLED and 7 days without recharging for $150

The modern market for smart bracelets is literally crowded – there are both quite affordable options and gadgets that smoothly turn into smart watches. Probably, it was precisely because of the saturation of the market that Garmin representatives did not develop their Vivosmart line for a long time, and only today, April 21, they officially released the fifth numbered model of the series. The device turned out to be quite modest in terms of body design and features, but costs $ 150 in the US – this is much more expensive than most Chinese competitors, but Garmin apparently relies on quality and a loyal fan base.

At the same time, the gadget still has several significant advantages – the device is equipped with an OLED display with a resolution of 88 × 154 pixels, which turned out to be very economical. According to the manufacturer, this bracelet, thanks to the display, is capable of working for seven days on a single battery charge, which is quite worthy for this kind of gadgets. Also, the novelty is able to track the basic indicators of a person – the number of steps taken, calories burned, heart rate, oxygen levels in the blood, and more. There is even a function for tracking the quality and duration of sleep – common and necessary.

The developers noted that the device can use the GPS receiver on a smartphone to track the user’s movements – it is thanks to this that the system is able to count steps and track the movement of a person. Naturally, notifications from the smartphone about incoming calls, messages and more will appear on the bracelet screen. And for athletes, 14 activity tracking modes have been implemented – there is yoga, running, walking, cycling, and so on. Not to say that the bracelet has something incredible, but in the range of Garmin it is one of the most affordable wearable gadgets.
