Gas: Russia does not cut off supplies to Europe from today – “It will continue on Russian terms”

Russia will not cut off supplies to natural gas from today, as payments for deliveries after April 1 are made in the second fortnight of April and May, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peshkov said.

The spokesman added that Vladimir Putin’s order to pay for gas supplies in rubles is irreversible and that the ruble is the preferred and safest currency for Russia at the moment.

Gazprom, for its part, announced that gas exports would continue on Russian terms, adding that today the company began to announce to its customers the change according to which the bills will be paid in rubles.

Gazprom adds in its announcement that it remains a reliable partner and that it will keep the supply of natural gas safe.
