In Ribeirão Preto, in the interior of São Paulo, drivers were surprised this Thursday morning (10) with the readjustment in fuel prices. Many stations did not even wait for the increase announced by Petrobras and corrected the values.
The liter of alcohol, which cost, on average, R$ 4 in cities in the Ribeirão Preto region, rose to R$ 4.20. The price of gasoline also rose within a few hours. It went from R$ 6.14 a liter to R$ 6.70. At some stations, there was a line up in the early afternoon and many drivers were outraged.
The main complaint was about the readjustment in the price of alcohol. The region of Ribeirão Preto is the one that produces the most fuel in Brazil and drivers do not understand why alcohol is so expensive.
Representatives of the sector explain that ethanol is part of a price chain, that is, every time gasoline goes up, alcohol follows the readjustment.
The guidance of experts is that the driver does the math before filling up: if the price of a liter of ethanol costs up to 70% of the value of a liter of gasoline, alcohol is the best option. Above that, it is worth filling with gasoline, which offers greater autonomy.
Procon manifests itself
On the afternoon of this Thursday, Procon-SP released a note informing that the consumer who is already faced with an increase in gas stations on this date can make a complaint. “Given the news that some gas stations are increasing prices today (10/3), that is, before the entry into force of the adjustment released by Petrobras, Procon-SP guides consumers to denounce the practice. ”
The agency also informs that it is carrying out inspections on the streets to check the situation in establishments.
readjustment
Petrobras announced this Thursday (10) that it will raise the price of gasoline and diesel, after 57 days without adjustments. For gasoline, the increase will be 18% and, for diesel, almost 25%. The new values begin to be practiced this Friday (11).
“After prices were observed at consistently high levels, it became necessary for Petrobras to promote adjustments in its sales prices to distributors so that the Brazilian market continues to be supplied, without the risk of shortages,” the company said in a statement.
