It will happen in Gaslit, the new eight-episode series produced by Starz and written by Robbie Pickering, already behind the success of Mr. Robot, of Search Party and of Natural Selection. The series, which will be available on the streaming platform StarzPlay in Europe, Latin America and Japan, it is inspired by the first season of Slow Burn, Leon Nayfakh’s podcast broadcast by the Slate channel and dedicated to the Watergate scandal.

Gaslit, in fact, it will focus on the character of Martha Mitchell, played by Julia Roberts, a woman of high society and wife of President Nixon’s Attorney General John Mitchell, played by Sean Penn. Despite his party membership, Martha will be the first person to publicly sound the alarm about Nixon’s involvement in Watergate, causing the unraveling of both his presidency and his personal life. As attorney general John, capricious, foul-mouthed and ruthless, will therefore be forced to choose between Martha and the president, of whom he is also the most trusted confidant.
