According to a survey by Ticket Log, the average price of a liter of gasoline closed February at R$ 6.851 and remained stable in relation to the previous month, with a drop of 0.34%. Ethanol, on the other hand, showed a decrease of 2.27% in relation to January, and the value, which was R$ 5.758, changed to R$ 5.627.
“Since December, the Ticket Log Price Index (IPTL) has been identifying lows or stability in the value of gasoline and ethanol. We hope that this trend will continue to ease the pockets of Brazilian drivers, but we must be aware of the effects of the international scenario”, highlights Douglas Pina, Head of Urban Market at Edenred Brasil.
All Brazilian regions showed a decline in the value of gasoline, with the exception of the North, where fuel closed at R$ 6,894, up 0.07% compared to the previous month, which was R$ 6,889. The Southeast led with the highest average, at R$ 6,930.
The Midwest region had the biggest drop in the price of gasoline, 0.98%, and the value of R$ 6,914 in January went to R$ 6,846. Once again, the South sold a liter of fuel for the lowest price among the regions, at R$ 6,540.
The drop in the price of a liter of ethanol was identified in all Brazilian regions, with emphasis on the Southeast, where the liter of fuel went from R$ 5,659 to R$ 5,408, a decrease of 4.44%.
However, the lowest average was found in the Center-West gas stations, at R$ 5,244. The most expensive ethanol was sold in the North, at R$ 6,024.
In the national highlights among the States, Rio de Janeiro continues to charge the highest price for gasoline (R$ 7,233); and the biggest increase in price, 1.01%, was identified in Bahia, which went from R$6,959 to R$7,029.
As in January, the lowest average price for gasoline was found in Amapá, at R$ 6,350, and the smallest reduction, of 2.59%, was registered in Rio Grande do Sul, and the value of R$ 6,642 in January went to R$ 6,470 in February.
Regarding ethanol, the pumps in Pará sold the fuel at the highest average price, at R$6,524; and Roraima recorded the biggest increase, 1.31%, and the amount from R$ 6,130 increased to R$ 6,210.
In addition to selling the liter of ethanol at the lowest average, São Paulo also recorded the greatest reduction in the value of fuel, from 6.84%, which went from R$4,942 to R$4,604.
“As at the end of January, according to the 70/30 ratio, ethanol presents itself as the most favorable option for supply in the states of São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Goiás and Mato Grosso”, concludes Pina.
IPTL data for the period from February 25th to March 1st, indicate that, during the Carnival holiday, the price of a liter of gasoline was sold at Brazilian gas stations at an average value of R$ 6.827.
The price was stable in relation to the last week of February and 0.04% lower compared to the average price at the end of the month. The Southeast and Northeast tied in the ranking of the most expensive gasoline on the holiday, at R$ 6,900. The South sold the fuel at the lowest average, at R$ 6,503.
Ethanol was sold at R$5,516 at gas stations, 0.53% lower compared to the last week of February and 1.10% lower than at the end of the month.
The North sold fuel at the highest average during Carnival, at R$ 5,797, and the stations in the Midwest at the lowest price, R$ 4,961, among all Brazilian regions.
The IPTL is an index of fuel prices based on supplies made at Ticket Log’s 21,000 accredited service stations.
