Gasoline sold to distributors by Petrobras becomes cheaper as of this Wednesday (20).

The state-owned company announced the day before that the average selling price of the fuel will go from R$ 4.06 to R$ 3.86, a reduction of R$ 0.20 per liter. The drop is 4.93%.

The announcement was the first in the administration of the new president of the state-owned company, Caio Paes de Andrade, who took office at the end of last month.

This reduction, as justified by the company, follows the evolution of international reference prices, which stabilized at a lower level for gasoline.

According to the company, considering the mandatory blend of 73% gasoline A and 27% anhydrous ethanol for the composition of gasoline sold at gas stations, Petrobras’ share of consumer price will rise from R$ 2.96, on average, to R$ 2.96. $2.81 for every liter sold at the pump.

Historic

The last fuel price adjustment took place on June 18, when Petrobras had announced a 5.18% increase in gasoline prices and a 14.26% increase in diesel prices.

According to data from the state-owned company, from December 2020 to July 2022, there were 20 price adjustments. Of the total, six were of reduction, and 14 of high. In the period, the average value of gasoline for distributors rose from R$ 1.84 to R$ 3.86.

In addition to the value, the price of gasoline charged to the consumer takes into account factors such as federal and state taxes, the cost of the ethanol used in the fuel and distribution and resale costs.
