Gaspard Ulliel, the French actor who died at just 37 years old

He was one of the most promising French actors but, sadly, his life and career came to a halt too soon. Gaspard Ulliel, best known for having lent the face to the designer Yves Saint-Laurent in the 2014 biopic directed by Bertrand Bonello and for being the protagonist of It’s just the end of the world by Xavier Dolan, which premiered at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival and winner of the Grand Prix of the Jury, he leaves us at the age of 37 due to a skiing accident. In fact, Ulliel collided with another skier in the early afternoon of January 18th at the intersection of two slopes in La Rosiere, in the eastern part of France.

Discovered at 19 for interpreting in Wandering souls by André Techiné, Gaspard Ulliel’s career took off in 2005 thanks to the role of a soldier in the First World War in A long Sunday of passions by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, which makes him win the prestigious Cesar award. In 2014 he played Saint-Laurent, while three years later he won his second Cesar for his performance in It’s just the end of the world in Dolan.

Over the course of his career, however, Ulliel has also gone beyond the French national borders, confronting himself with international titles such as the film Hannibal Lecter – The origins of evil, where he starred opposite Academy Award winner Anthony Hopkins. Among his latest performances, the Marvel series Moon Knight con Oscar Isaac e Ethan Hawke, which will arrive on March 30 on Disney +.
