Gastronomy without Borders: event in Rio proposes a trip through flavors of the world

With the aim of being a cultural exchange through dishes from various countries a 1st edition of Gastronomy Without Borders arrives in Rio as a journey of flavors in full Wonderful city.

The project, which takes place on October 8th and 9th in São Conrado, has recipes from some European countries, such as Spain , Portugal , France , Italy and Belgium as well as in other territories, such as the Mexico , Japan and of himself Brazil .

“Gastronomia Sem Fronteiras is a meeting to celebrate good food, gather friends and travel ‘the world’ without leaving Rio. Our first edition seeks to balance the best-known names in Rio’s gastronomy and new market players”, says the chef-entrepreneur Elia Schramm event curator.

The occasion promises to bring typical dishes from each region to more affordable prices, like the gnocchi funghi and tartufo (R$48) from Babbo Osteria that chef Elia himself takes to represent Italian gastronomy.

Belgium is represented by the chef Frédéric de Maeyer of Frédéric Epicerie, which includes assorted croquettes (R$28) to waffles with Belgian chocolate frosting (R$29).

France is in charge of Ricardo Lapeyre of Scale, which serves as steak tartare and pirarucu brandade; Juliana Kegler of sell represents Spanish cuisine with patatas bravas (R$32) and churros and dulce de leche (R$19).

already the chef Marcelo Barcellos of barsa offers recipes inspired by Portuguese colonial cuisine, such as octopus, duck and cod rice (R$ 45).

tacos from dos Perros from the chef Pedro Alberto Carvalho symbolize Mexico, while the fresh fish from Japan are worked by the Quitanda Jappa, like the tuna harumaki with foie gras on teryaki (R$45).

already the chef Bianca Barbosa, from Kalango, prepares from soft cassava dumplings with shrimp bobó to rabanada de broa to bring a taste of popular Brazilian food to the public.

In addition to the countries, Rio de Janeiro itself is honored and the kiosk QuiQui operates a space with creations signed by the chef Francisco Nobrega, Zezinho, which are a hit on the house menu in São Conrado, such as portions of tapioca dadinho, meat croquettes and artisanal mini hamburgers.

The two-day event also includes stands from other restaurants, bars and pubs, a fair with small producers, lectures with guest chefs, activities for the little ones and musical programming.
