The commercial director of the Gate.io cryptocurrency exchange, Kevin Lee, denied rumors of a hack that appeared on December 13. He stated that user funds are safe and the platform conducts transactions without restrictions.

On the morning of December 13, the X Aggrnews network account had posted A post warning crypto investors about a possible hack of the Gate.io cryptocurrency exchange. The message recommended the urgent withdrawal of assets from the site.

Almost simultaneously, information of similar content was published in the account of social network user X under the nickname naniXBT. He subsequently deleted the post, declaringthat he did not personally check the fact that the crypto platform was hacked.

Since the fake information leaked onto the Internet and began to be replicated on various social networks, the administration of the Gate.io exchange was forced to issue an official refutation. Exchange CEO Kevin Lee replied for hacking reports:

“Someone is trying to ruin our Friday. Stop panicking. Deposits, withdrawals and trading are currently proceeding as normal.”

Later, a release was published on the official Gate.io website condemning actions aimed at spreading false information and creating panic. The exchange administration stated that it reserves the right to take legal protection measures.

Although messages spreading rumors on social networks recommended users to urgently withdraw their funds from Gate.io, according to data DefiLlama, the total amount of assets on the platform remained virtually unchanged.

Earlier, the CEO of the Nigerian cryptocurrency exchange Patricia, Fejiro Hanu, said that rumors circulating in the media about the imminent closure of the platform amid government repression are not true.
