Gavin Wood steps down as CEO of Parity Technologies

The Polkadot co-founder announced that he is leaving his post as CEO of Parity Technologies to focus on the development of the project’s architecture.

Gavin Wood admitted that he never dreamed of being an executive, and being in this position for a long time would not bring him happiness. Wood assured that the decision was not easy for him, but in such positions there should be people who like to represent the interests of the company both inside the team and outside. As a CEO, a person must be prepared for the fact that most of his time will be occupied by numerous meetings and calls, Wood lamented.

Parity co-founder Björn Wagner will now take over as CEO. Wood confirmed that he would retain his role as the project’s chief architect and remain a leading shareholder in Parity Technologies. Leaving the position will allow you to focus on what you really like and where you can bring the most value to the Polkadot project.

“I am a thinker, coder, designer and architect. I work best asynchronously, for me the ideal day is 10 hours in a row to think about some problem, create a prototype or bring disparate ideas into one article, ”Wood reflects.

In September, Jesse Powell expressed similar sentiments as he stepped down as CEO of cryptocurrency exchange Kraken after an 11-year tenure. According to Powell, there were many things that he did not like to do as a leader, so he preferred to focus directly on the development of the exchange’s products.
