“Just a short time ago, the formula was found for the announcement by Egypt of the ceasefire agreement, which mainly concerns Egypt’s commitment to mediate the release of two prisoners,” Mohammed Al-Hidi, head of the armed wing of the Palestinian Authority, said in a statement. organization.

The two prisoners are Bassem Saadi and Khaled Awaudeh.

Egypt called for a truce starting today at 11:30 p.m. between Israel and the armed Palestinian organization Islamic Jihad, an Egyptian security official announced shortly after.

“Egypt calls all sides to a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip from 11:30 p.m. local time,” the official said.

Soon after, the Palestinian organization said in a statement that it would cease hostilities from that time, in accordance with the Egyptian appeal, but pointed out its right to respond to any new Israeli attack.
