Palestinian gunmen in the Gaza Strip shot and killed a US-based aid worker after opening fire on her vehicle, with government officials telling her family it was a case of mistaken identity. The car in which Islam Hejazi, the Gaza program manager at HEAL Palestine, was traveling yesterday when it was stopped in the Khan Younis area in the southern part of the enclave. Gunmen in three cars peppered her vehicle with dozens of bullets, according to residents and the woman’s family. “She was a mother of two young children and a humanitarian worker of high morals and professionalism,” HEAL Palestine said in a Facebook post. “HEAL Palestine is more committed than ever to giving back to Gaza, in her memory.
