A 12-storey building in Gaza, which houses the offices of the US-based Associated Press and Qatar-based Al Jazeera television network, collapsed today (May 15) after being hit by Israeli rockets.
According to the Reuters news agency, the owner of the building had been warned in advance about an impending Israeli bombing. According to a media reporter, the building had been evacuated.
The building also housed apartments and other offices.
The Israeli army has not yet commented on the incident.
An Israeli man was killed by a rocket fired from Gaza
Earlier in the day, a 50-year-old Israeli man was killed at noon in Ramat Gan, a suburb of Tel Aviv, after a rocket was fired from the Gaza Strip, according to Israeli rescue teams and police.
“Report after a rocket blast in Ramat Gan: one dead,” Mickey Rosenfeld, a spokesman for the Israeli police, said in a statement, according to APE-MPE.
The Israeli rescue services stated in a press release that the man was “seriously injured” and succumbed to his injuries.
