The Israeli Armed Forces (IDF) announced today that they have recovered the body of a soldier, who was abducted by Hamas during the October 7 attack, during an operation conducted last night in the southern part of the Gaza Strip. The name of the dead soldier has not yet been released, as requested by the family of the deceased. After the overnight operation, the Israeli military estimates that 103 of the 251 hostages kidnapped by Hamas on October 7 remain in the Gaza Strip, including 33 who are no longer alive. Hamas released 105 hostages as part of a ceasefire deal in November, while four others were released earlier. Israeli army operations rescued eight abductees and recovered 31 bodies, including three hostages who were killed by friendly fire while trying to escape from their captors. Source: RES
