The Russian giant gas company Gazprom will today cover only 65% of ENI’s daily needs, the Italian public oil and gas company announced today.
This is because the needs are greater today than yesterday, Wednesday, when Gazprom reduced supplies by 15%, said an ENI spokesman.
The total amount of gas supplies today will actually be higher than yesterday, the spokesman added.
Gazprom said the reduction was due to problems at its Portovaya plant, which supplies the Nord Stream pipeline through which the Russian company supplies much of its gas to ENI.
The Italian energy company ENEA announced that Italy’s dependence on Russian gas decreased from 40% last year to 24% in the first five months of this year, with Algerian gas increasing to 31% of the total.
