Google is actively developing Gboard and has even taken the bold step of making its keyboard available on Wear OS wearables. This led to a significant improvement in the quality of typing on smartwatches, but the company does not forget about mobile devices either. From time to time, Google adds new features to Gboard, which cannot be said about the application interface. In this regard, there have been no changes for a long time, and now the developers have added one interesting function that allows the keyboard to change its design in accordance with the background picture of the desktop.
The latest test version of Gboard gets support for syncing keyboard themes with wallpaper colors on Android 12. The app takes the primary colors from the background image and applies them to its design. Basically, this is not surprising since Android 12 comes with a unique feature, codenamed “monet”. It adjusts the theme across the entire interface to match the selected wallpaper, and the current update to Gboard will support this change.
The new feature is currently only available on Google Pixel smartphones, but that doesn’t mean it won’t appear on other Android devices. The theme system on Android 12, as well as all the visual improvements coming to the OS interface, will be part of one of the biggest Android updates in the last few years. More details about all this will become known very soon, when the conference for Google I / O developers begins.
