The team behind the popular Geekbench benchmark has responded to a web scandal that has erupted over the performance of the latest flagships of the Galaxy S22 series.

Samsung itself has previously noted that the reduction in Galaxy S22 performance due to the Games Optimization Service is implemented in part to prevent excessive heat during prolonged gaming. An update was also promised that would give users the ability to prioritize performance.
Geekbench has now accused Samsung of manipulating the benchmarks. The benchmark team conducted extensive internal testing and identified models using the Games Optimization Service. As a result, the results of all Samsung Galaxy flagship series over the past four years have been removed from the benchmark database:
- Samsung Galaxy S22 (all models)
- Samsung Galaxy S21
- Samsung Galaxy S20
- Samsung Galaxy S10 (all models)
Geekbench’s current policy is that once a device is removed from the database, there is no going back. Even when Samsung releases the update, all Galaxy S22, S21, S20 and S10 smartphones will still remain delisted from Geekbench. Among the “rogue” are also “budget” flagships – Galaxy S20 FE and Galaxy S21 FE. In addition, Samsung has not yet announced when the promised update is planned to be released.
