The Chinese company Geely has started production of an unusual car. This is a new modification of the well-known Geely Emgrand L model under the designation Hi-X. Its peculiarity lies in the engine, because of which the model was nicknamed nothing more than “alcosedan”.
The Geely Emgrand L Hi-X, which debuted for the first time this spring, is equipped with a hybrid powertrain consisting of a 1.8-liter methanol combustion engine and a 134-horsepower electric motor. In total, the power of the power unit is 264 hp. at 495 Nm of torque. The engines are accompanied by a special three-speed DHT gearbox, developed by Geely specifically for hybrid cars.
As a result, the fourth generation Geely Emgrand turned out to be extremely economical and environmentally friendly. Methanol consumption per hundred is 9.2 liters, and due to the lower price compared to gasoline, one kilometer, according to some estimates, will cost the owner only 0.3 yuan (about 2.4 rubles). And over 10 thousand kilometers, according to the manufacturer, the car will emit 0.8 tons less carbon into the environment than a car with a conventional internal combustion engine.
An unusual “alcomobile” is assembled at the Geely plant in the Chinese province of Shanxi. It is expected to go on sale this summer, but prices are still a mystery.
