GeForce RTX 30 graphics cards will be older generation compared to the new Nintendo Switch. The console will receive a GPU generation Lovelace

According to the source, the device will be based on an Nvidia platform with a Lovelace generation GPU. As a reminder, this is the next architecture for Nvidia gaming GPUs after Ampere. What kind of platform it will be is unclear. If at the time of the launch of the first Switch model from Nintendo it was unprofitable to order some specialized solution from Nvidia, so not the most recent Tegra X1 was chosen, now Nintendo may well get some kind of semi-custom platform.

True, when in this case the next Switch will be released is completely unclear, because the Ampere generation has not even entered the market in full force yet. On the other hand, since we are talking about a semi-custom SoC, Nintendo may get the new architecture sooner.

As for the source, suffice it to say that it accurately described the characteristics of the older GeForce RTX 30 video cards a few months before their announcement.
