GeForce RTX 3060 for $ 1200, GeForce RTX 3060 Ti for $ 2400. Dealers are blamed for the rise in prices for video cards, but Nvidia’s partners are no better
The shortage of 3D cards naturally led to a rise in prices. It is customary to blame resellers for this, but this was the case at first: they really bought up video cards that were supplied to stores in small quantities, and then resold them at a premium. Now the official partners of Nvidia are no better than those dealers.
The source cites the current situation in the Indian market, and it indicates that Nvidia’s partners, links to which are presented on the company’s official website, sell video cards with a mark-up 3-4 times relative to the recommended cost. We can say that the recommended cost has completely lost its meaning in modern times.
For example – a screenshot of the store page of the official partner Nvidia, offering various versions of the GeForce RTX 3060 for 85,000 rupees instead of the official 30,000. This is about 1200 dollars, although the recommended retail price of the model is 330 dollars.
The cost of the GeForce RTX 3070 goes beyond the 130,000 rupees mark, although the recommended price is about 40,000 rupees. It turns out that the markup for a video card from an official partner is $ 1800.
It’s the same with the GeForce RTX 3080 – the selling price is three times the recommended price. Interestingly, in this case, the number of potentially purchased video cards is not limited in any way. Either Nvidia has solved the production problems (and then the partners make themselves look even worse), or the seller simply forgot to indicate the limitation. The second option is the most likely.
None of Nvidia’s official partners in the region had a GeForce RTX 3060 Ti in stock. However, it was found on the local version of Amazon for an impressive $ 2,400!
It should be noted that the situation noted in India is typical for other countries of South Asia, but not only. The prices in our stores are hardly different from those in India.
