The Gemini crypto exchange team issued a public apology for sending out a warning to customers that the Bitcoin rate had reached $110,000.

Gemini support sent out a message some time ago saying that Bitcoin had reached a new record price. The email was sent on behalf of Gemini on November 13th. Now the company calls it a technical error.

In a thread on Reddit, the Gemini team shared information that the exchange sent out not one, but two messages within one hour – indicating the Bitcoin rate at $105,000, and then at $110,000. Some traders perceived the Gemini alert as a signal to buy and sell, while others suggested that Crypto exchange services could fall under the control of attackers.

The exchange team stated that it adequately takes the company’s criticism of false alerts and “understands the importance of accurate communication between the cryptocurrency exchange and its traders.” Gemini added that the exchange will consider introducing more advanced communication systems, including alert mechanisms.

In August 2021, 125 thousand users of the Coinbase exchange mistakenly received emails informing them that they had changed their two-factor authentication settings. This caused many to panic, and some even sold their assets.
