«Generation 56K»: the first series by The Jackal arrives on Netflix

Anyone who knows The Jackal and has had the good fortune to see them grow with their videos – if not, please run to YouTube and fix it – knows that the generation of the 90s is probably the last to have lived the « nostalgia “that platforms like HBO Max and movie giants like Disney try to ride to remind us of the pleasure of a life not yet watered down by social media, dominated by a world, that of video tapes, floppies and walkmans, which today looks like an archaeological find but which previously represented a source of happiness much easier to conquer than it is today.

And so, after a movie, Goodbye fucking green faces, released in 2017, now is the time for the first collaboration for a TV series that chooses to tell that generation there, grown up with the songs of 883 and the croaking sound of the 56K modem. The series is called, in fact, 56K generation, is produced by Cattleya, made in collaboration with The Jackal and ready to land on Netflix on July 1st.

It is a comedy based on an original idea by Francesco Ebbasta – who also directs the first four episodes – which revolves around Daniel (Angelo Spagnoletti) and Matilda (Cristina Cappelli), two guys who knew each other when they were very young and fell in love as adults and who, together with their old friends, Luca and Sandro, are the symbol of a generation overwhelmed by the arrival of the internet. The episodes constantly intertwine two timelines and two points of view, two phases of the same love story and the same friendship that starts in 1998 and continues up to the present day with all the upheavals – human and technological – of the case. Together with this story of adaptation to the hyper-technological world, with the smartphone becoming an integral part not only of the life of the individual but also of that of the couple, 56K generation also focuses on a cast that goes from two historical components of The Jackal as Gianluca Fru (also fresh from the experience a LOL – Who laughs is out) e Fabio Balsamo and the young Alfredo Cerrone and Azzurra Iacone who lend their faces to Daniel and Matilda in their miniature version.
