George Kaminis will not be a candidate in the next elections, as he announced on his personal Facebook account.
“My decision not to run in the next election was a difficult one, made for family reasons after some thought and discussion with my family. I announce my intention at – almost – neutral political time, before the election is called, “to facilitate the political planning of the party, both centrally and regionally,” said Mr. Kaminis.
He notes at the same time that “in the next electoral contest I will help with all my strength continuing the effort of rebirth of the Greek social democracy, in which I have been participating since 2017.
The years of my involvement in this effort have been full: With fruitful political actions, joys and successes but also unfulfilled, painful, losses. My thoughts go especially to Fofi Gennimata, whose contribution to today’s renaissance of PASOK / Movement for Change is now self-evident.
The fight for an extroverted, inclusive and just Greece, a Greece that deepens democracy, modernizes public infrastructure and defends the public interest, a Greece oriented towards European values, that embraces those who are lucky enough to live in its territory and leaves no one “outside the walls”, she is always alive. And in this battle, which my public action has served for the last fifteen years, I will continue -of course- to be present “.
