Lois passed away at his home in Manhattan, New York, as announced by his son, photographer Luke Lois. He had created some of the most bold images periodicalof the decade of 1960 and spread catchphrases like “I Want My MTV” and “Lean Cuisine”
The so-called “Golden Greek” as he was known in his circles, began his advertising career in 1956 and soon became the man behind every powerful and subversive image – but also famous slogans – in American periodically.
George Lois was among the wave of advertisers who started the “creative revolution” that swept her Madison Ave and the world in the 1950s and 60s. He was willing and able to find just the right image or words to capture a moment or create demand.
